Mason & Hamlin Piano Serial Numbers
Serial Numbers
We receive many requests from Mason & Hamlin owners for help in determining the age of their pianos. To make this task much simpler, the following table was developed. All you need to know is the serial number of your piano. The serial number can be found in several locations, depending on what model piano you have.
On a Model B, A, AA or BB grand piano, first sit at the piano. Then look into the piano at the plate, to the left of center. The four or five digit serial number should stamped on the plate, underneath the letters "B", "A", "AA" or "BB", depending which model you have.
On a Model 50 upright piano, lift the lid of the piano and look for a four or five digit number stamped on the plate. If there is none, then look for an oval opening in the plate, just to the left of center, which is backed by wood. The number that is stamped into the wood is the serial number.
